crune

CRUNE is a multidisciplinary conglomerate of musicians focused on creating occult inspired baroque horror dance music. Their live shows and studio recordings take root at the intersection of ritual Magick and the queer experience. Woven together with the theremin, synthesizers, drum machines, and pop driven, operatic vocals - the main instrumentation is Schweigert’s violin, a masterpiece crafted in spellwork, blood and the sigil of Neptune.

CRUNE released their debut album Witch Pop in April of 2019 and are currently in the process of recording their second album Necromantik, which will be released in three installments over the course of 2021. Necromantik will also serve as the compositional basis for an opera performance titled The Garden directed by Walken Schweigert and produced by Open Flame Theatre.

Below are pictures of Larynx, the violin created specifically for CRUNE. It contains many magical qualities, including being varnished in part with Walken's blood. It was commissioned from the then-Detroit luthier Greg Wilson by Walken Schweigert in 2019 and was created with funds from the Jerome Foundation, through Walken's fellowship that same year.

As a luthier, performer, and producer, Gregory Wilson endeavors to realize the union of tradition and originality. His multidisciplinary works often consider themes of mysticism, longing, and ephemerality.

The Larynx violin was created with equal attention to its roles both as a tool for musical expression and as a work of spellcraft. A balancing act between sonority, ergonomics, aesthetics, and esoterics, this instrument was crafted in every detail to articulate its player’s truest voice. Every design element from the overt to the obscure contributes to the divine synthesis of intention and inflection.
